Mold Masters was incorporated in December of 1961 by Vern Whitman and two partners to manufacture precision plastic injection and fiberglass compression molds. As the business grew, the shop area, then a small leased facility in Willoughby, Ohio, became too small. Three acres of land was purchased on Clover Ave. in Mentor, Ohio and a 5,000 sq. ft. facility was erected. With Vern parting ways in 1972, Frank Cichon, then current principal, stepped to the fore. While Vern took his family to upstate New York to continue manufacturing in a more rural, less hectic environment, Frank, with the goodwill of Vern, was soon busy with growing the business to its current size. Where we are today: Nearly 30 years later and our focus has remained the same; constant upgrade of facilities and equipment has lead to the Clover Ave. facility to reach its current 45,000 sq. ft. size. 1985 saw the formation of the Mold Masters Airfoil Pattern Company (M.M.A.P.C.), requiring the purchase of a 25,000 sq. ft. facility in 1993 which was then remodeled and was opened a year-and-a-half later. Some 40 years after its founding, Mold Masters is a major supplier to the
airfoil investment casting industry for both precision tooling and complex
pattern assemblies. Today, Mold
Masters employs over 200 people at two sites located in Mentor, Ohio.
The Company’s success is, to a large extent, due to its emphasis on using high technology and state-of-the-art equipment combined with a “can do” team approach by our employees in serving our customers’ needs.
